FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. – The 2014 Hyundai Veloster is one of the 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000 according to Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com. Editors of the trusted new- and used-car information resource applauded the three door coupe for its highly unique exterior design and stylish, tech-laden interior, ranking it number two on the list.

“Last year’s number one on this list, the Veloster is a masterful mix of bold, unique style and famous Hyundai value,” said Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst, Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com. “In this case, getting more for your money means an extra door on the passenger’s side.”

Two criteria – fun-to-drive and fun-to-own – are used by KBB.com editors to determine each vehicle’s “cool factor.” Each vehicle on the list is available for purchase at $18,000 or less, using Kelley Blue Book’s exclusive Fair Purchase Price as the yardstick, the price consumers typically pay for a car, based on actual new-vehicle transactions and updated weekly for changing market conditions.

“Veloster combines a stylish image with sporty driving dynamics and outstanding fuel economy, all at a reasonable price point,” said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “With its unique third door and advanced technology features, Veloster was definitely created with the cool factor in mind.”

In addition to having a unique three door design, the 2014 Hyundai Veloster comes with impressive specifications, including a new 1.6-liter, 138 horsepower, direct-injected twin-scroll turbocharged engine, aggressive bodykit and unique 17-inch alloy wheels. All 2014 Veloster models come standard with a 7-inch multimedia touchscreen, the largest in its class. Veloster is also equipped with Assurance Connected Care powered by the Hyundai’s Blue Link telematics platform. Assurance Connected Care is a suite of safety and car care features providing Hyundai owners with free proactive services including automatic collision notification, SOS emergency assistance, enhanced roadside assistance, monthly vehicle diagnostics reports and maintenance alerts.

Hi all

Many of you have probably noticed that the Veloster has been quietly removed from dealerships over recent months.  Although I have never actually read any announcement from the manufacturer, a very recent article in the motoring press confirms that the model has been deleted from UK showrooms as it just didn't sell.

Interestingly, the article also refers to the 'hot' i30 model due to be introduced here shortly.

Here's a link if anyone is interested.
